A New Chapter for Doing Family Right

For more than two decades, Dr. Dave and Donalyn Currie have faithfully led Doing Family Right with a heart to strengthen marriages, families, and faith. What began as a step of faith has grown into a ministry that has impacted countless lives.

After more than two decades of faithful leadership, Doing Family Right is entering a new chapter.

After many years of serving as Executive Director, Dr. Dave is stepping out of his leadership role and into a new season. While this marks a meaningful leadership transition, Dr. Dave will continue to serve Doing Family Right as an advisor to the Lead Team, offering wisdom, encouragement, and support as the ministry moves forward.

Doing Family Right will continue its mission of helping individuals, couples, and families through professional counselling, life and spiritual coaching, and other ministry initiatives under the leadership of its dedicated Lead Team.

As Dave reflects on the journey that brought Doing Family Right to where it is today, we’d like to share these words from him.

“Donalyn and I felt that the Lord wanted us to step out in faith and start Doing Family Right. All it was, was a name – just 3 words. At first, no salary, no support, no plan. Only a name. But we felt called to share the difference that knowing Jesus makes in a life, a marriage and a home. For us, Doing Family Right was clearly doing it God’s way and the reason we stepped out in faith.

We raised our own support and all the money needed to run the ministry. In the early years, DFR was only a travelling itinerant speaking ministry. As time went by, counselling became part of what we did. By 2016, with the Abby Office opening, the counselling ministry took off, eventually adding the Chwk office in 2024.

Donalyn and I have cherished the DFR family above all else – this team were such good, caring and Godly people. We will miss the deep connections of friendship. It was a joy to see counsellor after counsellor join us and strongly embrace the vision statement: Helping you with your most important relationships – Marriage – Family – God.

So many people helped make DFR happen over the years. We could not have done it without you. Many prayed for us. That was so needed and appreciated. So many supported the vision financially especially in the early years when we had to work hard to break even. You are true Kingdom Visionaries!!! Thank you so much!

Although Dr. Dave will continue to serve as an advisor to Doing Family Right, his ongoing counselling, life and spiritual coaching, speaking ministry, writing, and new initiatives, including Leader Lift, an encouragement ministry for pastors and ministry leaders will now be offered independently through his personal ministry.
