Every Ministry Has a Beginning
For Doing Family Right, that beginning was a simple step of faith. Driven by a passion to help people experience healthier relationships through God’s design for marriage, family, and faith, Dr. Dave and Donalyn Currie founded Doing Family Right with little more than a calling and a conviction that God would provide the way.
Over the years, that vision has grown into a thriving ministry that has served thousands of individuals, couples, and families through speaking, professional counselling, life and spiritual coaching, workshops, resources, and practical encouragement.
Today, while Doing Family Right continues under the leadership of its dedicated Lead Team, we remain deeply grateful for the faithful leadership, vision, and legacy that Dave and Donalyn established. Dr. Dave now serves as an advisor to the ministry, continuing to offer wisdom and encouragement as Doing Family Right moves confidently into the future.
A Reflection from Dr. Dave
“Donalyn and I felt that the Lord wanted us to step out in faith and start Doing Family Right. All it was, was a name – just 3 words. At first, no salary, no support, no plan. Only a name. But we felt called to share the difference that knowing Jesus makes in a life, a marriage and a home. For us, Doing Family Right was clearly doing it God’s way and the reason we stepped out in faith.
We raised our own support and all the money needed to run the ministry. In the early years, DFR was only a travelling itinerant speaking ministry. As time went by, counselling became part of what we did. By 2016, with the Abby Office opening, the counselling ministry took off, eventually adding the Chwk office in 2024.
Donalyn and I have cherished the DFR family above all else – this team were such good, caring and Godly people. We will miss the deep connections of friendship. It was a joy to see counsellor after counsellor join us and strongly embrace the vision statement: Helping you with your most important relationships – Marriage – Family – God.
So many people helped make DFR happen over the years. We could not have done it without you. Many prayed for us. That was so needed and appreciated. So many supported the vision financially especially in the early years when we had to work hard to break even. You are true Kingdom Visionaries!!! Thank you so much!

Dr. Dave’s passion for strengthening marriages, families, and ministry leaders continues
Outside of his role as an advisor to Doing Family Right, Dr. Dave now leads his own independent ministry, where he continues to provide counselling, life and spiritual coaching, speaking, writing, and new initiatives such as Leader Lift, an encouragement ministry for pastors and ministry leaders.
